"NEW WAY ENGINES"
SINGLE CYLINDER VERTICAL [Throttle Governed] AIR COOLED
New Way Motor Company commenced commercial production of their air cooled engines with a 3.5 HP single cylinder Vertical Hit Miss engine. In the mid teens of the early 1900s New Way Motor Company commenced production of throttle governed engines. This registry page is dedicated to their models of single cylinder vertical throttle governed engines.
With the introduction of throttle governing into their engines, SERIES "M" engines are found in 2 registry groups:
- Single Vertical Cylinder Hit Miss Engine Registry
- Single Vertical Cylinder Throttle Governed Engine Registry
Series M engines represent a significant crossover point for the NEW WAY MOTOR COMPANY where the early serial numbered engines were gas / petrol engines utilizing hit & miss governing principles and so classified by New Way as TYPE "C" engines.
Later serial numbered Series M engines were generally Kerosene / Oil engines and had exhaust heated carburetors and utilised throttle governing. The early Kerosene engines were still called Type "C" but later "M" Series engines were classified as Type "F" in accordance with the standard used by New Way for their ongoing throttle governed range of engines.
NOTE: For the sake of clarity in the registry, all Series "M" throttle governed engines will be classified as TYPE "F" in accordance with New Way's ongoing typing of throttle governed engines.
The TYPE F was supplanted by further advancment with the introduction of the "A" Series range and these were defined as Type "H" engines.
New Way Motor Company manufactured engines in other formats namely, Single Cylinder Horizontal, Twin Cylinder Horizontal, and Twin Cylinder Vertical.
