New Way Stationary Engines

Aim - To serve and support the New Way Stationary Engine restoration community.
There was a New Way Stationary Motor inclined to Hit and Miss. It was designed that way but intermittently it would missfire and this in the confines of the beekeepers shed fired my imagination, grabbing my senses. I just loved the sound of the New Way 3.5Hp working - likely fuelled by a too rich mixture.
With each missfire came the tell tale puff of blue smoke and via the old sawbench, the beekeeping manufacturing business was underway, alive and well. Alf was in his element. Romance, nah, hard work but Hoots the New Way went a long way in firing the imagination of times past running in the present. The present, after all, that's where life is, it's not in the past, but romancing the past, that's the present if you're living it.
The priveledge of life. Present and past is now!!! - alive.

New Drawings in the New Way Library

NEW WAY LIBRARY EXPANSION.
Several new  DRAWING documents have recently been added to the library thanks in a large part to Neil H. of Victoria Australia. These I am sure will be greatly appreciated where enthusiasts find them selves with an engine just a little shy on some original parts.

AVAILABLE DRAWINGS

  1. IGNITION ADVANCE CONTROL - A concept drawing showing the principle of operation that New Way used on their Twin Cylinder engines.
    1. Essentially the control lever enabled the operator to vary the spark advance manually from an operationally retarded status at start to an advanced spark when running.
    2. Achieved by having a variable gap contact that fed the BUZZ coil. Manually changing the gap with the lever, which was connected to the push rod altered the time when the circuit was completed. In other words the circuit timed the power to the buzz coil depending on what was selected on advance control lever.

GENEROSITY
Thanks so much for all those who have contributed both here and in the past either with detailed drawings or of their precious original documents. By this generosity the scope and detail that we can provide is continually being upgraded to make the enthusiast both better informed and a times saving considerable time as some works being undertaken by New Way enthusiasts don't have to be done from the "Get Go". Drawings are a great practical example of this in action.

A quick look at the library and you will soon realize there are now 106 New Way related documents available for free download.

Recent additions include some excellent quality Brochures. All new documents added are now notated in the far right column indicating the month they were added to the library so you as the user don't have to search if you are just looking for updates.
